Board & Governance Oversight Commission (BGOC)

About the Commission
The Board & Governance Oversight Commission (BGOC) is an independent, board-level governance body established by the Congress of the World Iranian Christian Alliance (WICA).

The Commission exists to:
    • strengthen governance quality, accountability, and leadership culture,
    • provide independent oversight and advisory input to the Board, and
    • ensure that WICA’s governance structures remain fit for purpose as the Alliance grows in complexity and reach.

The BGOC does not engage in operational management. Its focus is on oversight, governance integrity, ethics, and accountability.

Who will be considered
We welcome applications and nominations of individuals who demonstrate:
    • senior-level experience in governance, leadership, or advisory roles
    • experience in complex organizations (NGOs, alliances, federations, faith-based or global contexts)
    • the ability to offer independent, courageous, and constructive input
    • strong personal integrity, discretion, and respect among peers

This process is also intended to help WICA identify governance capacity within the Alliance, including individuals who may not actively apply themselves.

Time Commitment
    • Approximately 4 meetings per year
    • Occasional ad-hoc engagement when governance matters require attention
    • Service is voluntary

Screening & Selection
Selection is based on a holistic assessment, including:

    • governance and leadership experience,
    • organizational complexity exposure,
    • independence and judgment, and
    • character, integrity, and the respect the individual holds within the community.

All applications and nominations are reviewed using a structured governance screening framework. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a confidential interview with the board appointed screening and selection lead as well as a board liaison.
Final appointments are made by the Congress October 2026.

Confidentiality
All submissions will be treated as confidential governance material and used solely for the purpose of evaluating suitability for the Board & Governance Oversight Commission.
